Elevated on Pedestal , Goddess decked in jewels is seen standing and posing to kill the Mahishasua (buffalo demon) , who is seen emerging from buffalo . She holds the long end of a trident poised at the buffalo demon : Mahisha, with her vehicle, a lion already on the back of the buffalo Mahisha was riding. Durga has 8 arms that hold a bow and arrow , sword and shield , Chakra and Shankha , Trident .
