Idol featuring Goddess Durga as Mahishasura Mardini is artistically crafted in solid copper by skilled artisans of South India. Elevated on Pedestal , Goddess decked in jewels is seen standing and posing to kill the Mahishasua (buffalo demon) , who is seen emerging from buffalo . She holds the long end of a trident poised at the buffalo demon : Mahisha, with her vehicle, a lion with his mouth open already on the back attacking the buffalo Mahisha was riding. Durga has 18 arms that hold a bow and arrow , sword and shield , Chakra and Shankha , Trident , axe,  noose , mace , kamandal , khappar , mace .
