A beautiful sculpture of the avatar of Vishnu, Varaha raising Bhoomi Devi from the bottom of the ocean crafted in heavy copper by artisans of south india . Varaha looks up at Bhoomi Devi . Varaha’s silhouette is magnificent!   His face is equally as beautiful from the back as from the front.  In his hand is a conch shell, which represents “Om”, the first sound of creation and also the beginning of matter, since sound and matter are consider to be synonymous.  His left foot rests upon the head of Kaliya the serpent who is a figure taken from the mythology of Vishnu’s 8th avatar, Krishna.
