Vyasa (Sanskrit: literally “Compiler”) is a central and revered figure in most Hindu traditions. He is also sometimes called Veda Vyāsa veda-vyāsa, “the one who classified the Vedas”), or Krishna Dvaipāyana (referring to his dark complexion and birthplace).
