Check the particular piece
- Read the stated material, origin, dimensions, weight and any treatment or certification information. If a detail is absent, ask before buying.
- Examine the listing photographs. Natural marks and colour variations may occur; colour also varies with lighting and screens. Ask whether photographs show the exact item if this is important to your choice.
- For Rudraksha, ask about the stated mukhi count, size, origin and any report offered for that particular bead.
- For Shaligrams, ask about the piece’s dimensions, photographs, stated source and the basis for its description. Traditional names describe devotional identification; they do not substitute for a laboratory examination.
If a laboratory certificate is advertised
- Ask for a readable copy and the name of the issuing laboratory. Check which item the report describes.
- Compare the report number, date, photograph and available measurements or weight with the listing. A report number on its own is not enough.
- Check the report’s scope: identification, natural or laboratory-grown material, treatments and geographic-origin opinion are different findings. Not every report supplies all of them.
- Where the issuing laboratory provides an official report-check service, use its own website. If the report cannot be matched or checked, ask us to clarify before purchase.
A laboratory identification report is not a valuation, a guarantee of future resale price or a promise of spiritual or health outcomes. There is no single visual or home water test that can verify every claim about an item.
