Read measurements before the photograph
A close-up image can make a small item appear large. Use the dimensions stated on the listing and compare them with a ruler. If a measurement is missing or unclear, ask us before ordering.
Physical size
Millimetres describe a measured dimension. 10 mm equals 1 cm. Check whether the stated size is length, width, diameter or another measurement.
Gemstone weight
Carat is a measure of weight. Two stones with the same carat weight can have different dimensions because of their material, shape and cut.
For Rudraksha & malas
- Check bead dimensions and the stated mukhi count as separate details. Mukhi describes the stated faces or natural divisions, rather than the physical size.
- For a mala, ask about the number of beads, bead size and overall length. Do not infer the wearable length from one bead’s diameter.
- If the piece has a cap, clasp, thread or pendant, ask which components are included and whether the stated measurement includes them.
For Shaligrams & other natural pieces
Read the length, width, height and weight where supplied. An irregular natural form may not have a single useful “diameter”. Consider how much space you have for safe placement, and ask for clarification if only one dimension is listed.
For gemstones & jewellery
Check the stated weight, shape, dimensions, setting and any treatment information. If a traditional weight unit such as ratti is used, ask what conversion the listing uses; do not assume every seller uses the same convention.
For a ring, ask which sizing system the seller uses and compare that with a measurement from a jeweller. Check resizing availability and its terms before ordering. Do not assume that a gemstone listing includes a ring or setting unless it says so.
